Ride Description
The Saw Mill Log Flume is a water log flume ride with
two large drops and two smaller drops with gentile turns. Designed by Arrow
Development Co., the Log Flume can hold a total of 27 boats or logs. At the
ride’s highest point, (lift 2) riders will drop down 40ft 5 7/8 inches. The
total ride length is 2160ft. The log flume combined the thrills of a roller
coaster with a refreshing splash water ride.
Ride History
An original ride, the Saw Mill Log Flume opened for
the first time in 1974. At the time, the log flume was the world’s longest
flume ride. The log flume quickly became a popular ride due to the summer heat.
Throughout its life, the trough has been repainted several times. The large
water wheel had been rebuilt several times due to wood rot. From 1974-1975 the
ride was called “The Flume”. From 1976-1977 the ride was called “Log Flume”.
From 1978-1980 the ride was called “Nestea Log Flume”. From 1981-1985 the ride
was again called “Log Flume”. In 1986 the ride became “7-Up Flog Flume”.
However, in 1987-1992 the name was again changed to “Log Flume”. In 1993-present
it received it final name of “Saw Mill Log Flume”.
