Ride Description
Houdini’s Great Escape is a mad house ride built by Vekoma.
Guests will enter into Houdini’s parlor where a medium, Margery, will attempt
to call Houdini back from the dead. After a video show and some effects, the
Guests will proceed into a gondola holding 78 people in four rows (two on each
side). The drum doors will close and the Guests will experience a sensational
illusion. As the outer drums spins 360° in both directions and the gondola will
swing back and forth at 30° making the Guests feel they actually went upside
down.
Ride History
Houdini was built in 1999 as part of the War on Lines
campaign. Houdini stands were the old stand-up roller coaster, Shockwave
(1990-1992) which before was the Garden of Marvels. Houdini closed for
renovation in 2008 and reopened in 2009 only for Freight Fest. In 2010, Houdini
reopened full-time.
